This episode features three perspectives that matter to hydrogen aviation right now: testing culture from rocketry, scalable refueling, and an airport building a hydrogen hub.
HYSKY Monthly Hydrogen Aviation Speakers
Dennis Scaggiante, Co-Founder, Novaeka
From Rockets to Planes: The Challenge of Testing
Dennis graduated in Mathematics at the University of Padua and co-founded Novaeka in 2017 with colleagues from aerospace engineering. Early work ranged from CFD for underwater vehicles to 6-DoF flight dynamics and scientific software. In 2019 Novaeka was selected by AVIO to design the Space Propulsion Test Facility in Sardinia for a 100 kN LOX LCH4 engine with scale-up potential to 1000 kN. Since then Dennis has specialized in modeling and simulation of fluid dynamic processes in rocket test facilities, including Hardware in the Loop and virtual testing, while supporting business development as the CEO’s right hand.
PJ Callahan, Technical Lead, Clear Skies Hydrogen
CSH2: Scalable Hydrogen Refueling
As Technical Lead of Supply Chain, PJ leads component sourcing for CSH2 and supports project development, operations, and engineering. Previously at the Center for Transportation and the Environment he led NorCal ZERO, the largest deployment of fuel cell trucks in North America, with Hyundai and FirstElement Fuel. He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from MIT.
Diego Moreno, Manager, Hydrogen and Low-Carbon Fuels, Edmonton International Airport
Edmonton Int. Airport H2 Hub
Diego is Manager of Hydrogen and Low-Carbon Fuels at Edmonton International Airport and Program Director for Infrastructure at the Edmonton Region Hydrogen Hub. He leads key initiatives advancing hydrogen deployment in the region. Diego holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Calgary focused on catalytic clean hydrogen production and brings more than 14 years of experience across HATCH, Suncor, Ecopetrol, and academia in Canada and Colombia.
