The National Space Society (NSS) has opened submissions for the Rothblatt Space Settlement Competition, inviting participants worldwide to present visionary concepts for future space settlements. Named after Martine Rothblatt, the competition encourages innovative designs that push the boundaries of human habitation in space. Competitors have the opportunity to showcase their work at the NSS International Space Development Conference (ISDC) in 2025.
The competition is open to students, professionals, and independent space enthusiasts, with submissions evaluated based on creativity, technical feasibility, and sustainability. Selected finalists will present their ideas at the ISDC, where top designs will receive recognition and prizes. The NSS hopes to inspire the next generation of space explorers and innovators, encouraging fresh approaches to space colonization and the challenges it entails.
The Rothblatt Space Settlement Competition continues Rothblatt's legacy of supporting space exploration, biotechnology, and sustainability efforts.
