Hydrogen Aviation Pioneer Mike Hirschberg Joins H2 Aircraft Certification Short Course as Instructor

HYSKY is thrilled to announce that Mike Hirschberg, Principal of H2 Advisors, LLC and Executive Director Emeritus of the Vertical Flight Society, will serve as an instructor for the upcoming H2 Aircraft Certification Short Course running from August 26 through September 11, 2025.




This announcement represents a major milestone for hydrogen aviation education and brings together one of the most globally recognized authority on vertical flight and hydrogen aviation with professionals seeking to understand the future of sustainable flight.

Mike Hirschberg’s Role in eVTOL, Vertical Flight Society, and Hydrogen Aviation


Mike Hirschberg:


  • Launched the first public eVTOL conference (2014) and short course (2018)

  • Founded the VFS H2eVTOL Council and helped spin out HYSKY Society

  • Organized the first hydrogen-electric aviation conference in North America (2022)

  • Co-founded the SAE’s AE-5H Hydrogen Aviation Committee

  • Advised and collaborated with NASA, FAA, DARPA, and the Pentagon on advanced VTOL, rotorcraft, and propulsion systems

  • Authored Hydrogen is a Game Changer for Vertical Flight (Forbes, 2024)


Hirschberg has also supported Joby, Piasecki, and Alaka’i Technologies in shaping the next generation of hydrogen-powered VTOL aircraft. He’s played a direct role in nearly every major breakthrough in hydrogen-electric and vertical flight aviation.


About the Hydrogen Aircraft Certification Short Course


This 3-week virtual short course (12 total hours) delivers the foundational knowledge and emerging challenges around certifying hydrogen-powered aircraft.


It is designed for:


  • Aircraft developers and systems integrators

  • FAA, EASA, and Transport Canada regulators

  • Aerospace engineers, safety leads, and compliance officers

  • Startups entering the hydrogen aviation space
