American Airlines has entered into a conditional purchase agreement with ZeroAvia, marking a significant move towards the adoption of hydrogen-electric propulsion in commercial aviation. This agreement underscores American Airlines' commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and investing in sustainable aviation technologies.

The agreement includes the potential purchase of up to 100 hydrogen-electric engines from ZeroAvia, which will be used to retrofit existing regional aircraft. This partnership aims to demonstrate the viability of hydrogen-electric powertrains in reducing emissions and achieving zero-emission flight operations.

By leveraging ZeroAvia's innovative hydrogen-electric technology, American Airlines is taking a proactive step in addressing the environmental impact of its operations. This collaboration is expected to pave the way for broader adoption of hydrogen-powered aviation solutions across the industry.
