NASA is showing renewed interest in hydrogen-powered aircraft after 70 years of intermittent research. This focus on zero-carbon emissions fuel could mark a significant shift in the agency’s approach to sustainable aviation. Historically, NASA and its predecessor NACA explored hydrogen technologies, but attention to this area has varied over the years.

Guy Norris, Senior Editor at Aviation Week, highlights how NASA is again considering hydrogen as part of its efforts to address carbon emissions in aviation. As global pressures increase to find greener fuel alternatives, NASA’s evolving stance could play a crucial role in advancing hydrogen technologies for future aircraft.
