Hans Kulenkampff Appointed CEO of Hinicio to Advance Hydrogen for Hard-to-Abate Sectors

Hans Kulenkampff as Hinicio new CEO, marking a significant milestone in our mission to advance the decarbonization of hard-to-abate sectors worldwide.

Hinicio has announced the appointment of Hans Kulenkampff as its new CEO, a strategic move to advance its mission of decarbonizing hard-to-abate sectors globally. Kulenkampff's leadership brings extensive expertise in hydrogen innovation, having spearheaded key projects and initiatives across Latin America and beyond since joining the company in 2020.



Since joining Hinicio, Kulenkampff has transformed the company's presence in Chile and expanded operations across Latin America. His initiatives have included the launch of Systems Engineering and Digital Services, both instrumental in global expansion and innovation. Recognized for his impact on the hydrogen ecosystem, Hans has earned multiple industry awards and was named one of Chile’s Top 100 Young Leaders.


Before his tenure at Hinicio, Kulenkampff held leadership roles at Tractebel ENGIE, where he advanced smart energy systems. In 2018, he founded the Chilean Hydrogen Association (H2 Chile) and served as chairman until 2021, highlighting his commitment to hydrogen collaboration and advocacy.


Kulenkampff’s promotion follows his rise from Head of Latin America to Chief Operating Officer in 2024. Patrick Maio, Hinicio's Founder and Chairman, expressed strong support for Hans' leadership, stating:

Looking back, I feel immense pride in what we have built—expanding across four continents, supporting over 200 companies, and delivering more than 900 projects in 45 countries... Having joined Vulcain Engineering Group in 2022, Hinicio is now poised to support project development across the full lifecycle, from business strategy to commissioning. Kulenkampff’s appointment signals a strengthened commitment to hydrogen innovation and sustainability.
